When you go out to practice, make sure you have a goal in mind for that session. If you are going to practice pitch shots, make sure you understand the technique and desired results of this shot:
· You are going to pitch because you have a shot of up to 50 yards over rough, a bunker, water, or fairway that lies between your ball and the green.
· Maximum airtime/minimum roll time: You want the ball to travel on a fairly high trajectory to the green, or just short of the green, land softly and roll slowly toward the hole.
· Ball position: play the ball 2 to 3 inches inside your left heel (right handers), or slightly back your stance if you want to hit it lower.
· Stance: Feet close together, slightly open to the target. Shoulders, hips parallel to the target line.
· Swing: start the club back by turning your shoulders. Allow your wrists to “hinge” early in the swing. Start the downswing by shifting your weight to your left foot. Let your shoulders, arms and club head follow in that order.
With our help, you will become confident with pitch shots.
